Raffle Types

PineRaffle currently provides the following raffle types, each designed to help merchants achieve a different goal — whether that's boosting order value, promoting specific products, or growing an email list.

1. Order Value

How it works: Customers automatically earn raffle tickets based on how much they spend — either per order, or per dollar threshold (e.g. 1 ticket per $50 spent).

Customer experience: There's no extra action required beyond checking out normally. The incentive is transparent and simple — the more they spend, the better their odds of winning.

Merchant benefit: This is the most effective type for increasing average order value (AOV). It nudges customers who are already buying to add a bit more to their cart to earn extra entries, without requiring them to purchase a specific product. It's also the least "salesy" — customers feel rewarded for shopping normally rather than steered toward a particular item.

Best for: Storewide promotions, boosting cart size, general customer loyalty campaigns.

2. Products

How it works: Merchants select specific products (or a collection) that grant a raffle ticket when purchased. Optionally (on Grow/Pro plans), different products can be assigned different ticket values.

Customer experience: Customers see clearly which products are "raffle-eligible," creating a sense of urgency and exclusivity around those items — buying becomes a dual win (get the product and a shot at the prize).

Merchant benefit: This is the go-to raffle type for promoting a specific product or collection — new arrivals, slow-moving inventory, or a flagship item you want to spotlight. It drives targeted sales rather than general spend, making it ideal for product launches or clearing stock.

Best for: New product launches, clearing inventory, spotlighting a hero product or collection.

3. Email

How it works: Customers enter the raffle simply by submitting their email address — no purchase required. (Available on Grow/Pro plans.)

Customer experience: The lowest-friction entry point — no spending required, so it appeals to a much wider audience, including browsers who aren't ready to buy yet.

Merchant benefit: This is the strongest raffle type for audience and list growth. Merchants trade a raffle prize for a customer's email, building a marketing list they can re-engage later (newsletters, future promotions, abandoned cart flows, etc.) — turning casual visitors into a long-term marketing asset, even if they don't convert immediately.

Best for: Growing an email list, top-of-funnel lead capture, pre-launch hype building.
